Community Spotlight: Meet Barb!
Hello, I am Barb Suek from Abbotsford, B.C. I was diagnosed with emphysema in May 2011 and I am on home-oxygen 24/7. I started lung rehabilitation in October 2011 and have continued to participate in lung rehab and exercise programs on a very regular basis ever since. I know that exercise has played a key role in keeping me out of the hospital and from having exacerbations. I enjoy attending seminars and webinars to gain information about my disease and learning how to live the best life I can. I am currently working with the lung transplant team at VGH to see if I might qualify for a double lung transplant. I have been the secretary for the Abbotsford Better Breathers Club for the last nine years. Despite being on oxygen I remain active and try to get out and enjoy life.
We would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to Barb for the wonderful work she does to support those living with chronic lung conditions. She is resourceful, always willing to offer help, and she sets an amazing example of what it means to live your best lung life!
